Meet Our Attorneys
Peyton Hyslop
Peyton was Hernando County’s only county judge from 1990-2005. In this capacity, he ruled on thousands of misdemeanor cases, traffic infractions, and assorted other civil matters.
Since 2005, Peyton has been in private practice, where he has aggressively fought for the rights of his clients. Peyton famously took on the constitutionality of red light cameras in Brooksville in the 2010s and won, helping to end the program.
When he isn’t in court, Peyton enjoys traveling the world with his wife Vivian, drinking a fine glass of wine, and attending USF football games.
Matt Pila
Matt’s family has ties to Hernando County dating back to 1962 when his grandfather opened up Milk-A-Way Farms in Brooksville. Matt grew up in Tampa and graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 2004. Matt then attended law school at Florida State University.
His first job out of law school was as a prosecutor in Hernando County, a position he served from 2007-2014. During this time, Matt was the lead prosecutor on over 30 jury trials.
Matt then joined forces with Peyton in 2014. Matt has successfully defended hundreds of clients on charges ranging from driving without a valid license to attempted murder. He has handled nearly ten jury trials on the defense side, with every felony trial being a positive result for his client.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, Stacy, and his two children, Davis and Marlowe. Matt gives every client his cell phone since he knows legal issues don’t pop up from 9-5 during the week.
